tom kha bangkok 1 gurgaon

Bangkok 1. There is a brand owner and an investor and all that. But leaving all the boring details apart, this one is owned in part by an ex industry guy and a Thai team in the kitchen, both confess to being horrible at social media and communication. The facebook page sucks, there are no fancy photos, no blogger reviews and no close ups of hip customers. But, that is how restaurants run these days. But, they have worked on the areas that any sincere…Continue Reading “Bangkok 1, Sector 53, Gurgaon”

cybercity gurgaon

The skyline is very well designed. The ground looks unattended. What sort of streetfood can you have on streets that are not meant for walking? That’s the subject of my Livemint article. I look at streetfood more from a urban planning perspective. Read it here on Livemint.

wendy's cyberhub gurgaon

I got an invite when this place opened. I wondered if I would like to review a fast food chain and never went there, until i did, yesterday. They had massive standees all over the place and the bacon caught my eye. We walked in, the price seemed extremely reasonable at 179 rupees or thereabouts. And, the burger was damn good, with fried chicken, lettuce and tomato. The only other burger chain that serves bacon is Jonny Rockets and the prices don’t compare. The railway…Continue Reading “Wendy’s, Cyberhub”

bamboos gurgaon

Lately, my outings to the well known restaurants have been less than satisfactory. Then, I see a post on a food group about Himachali food fest at a place we had not heard of. 500 buck per head at a place in Gurgaon we had never been to. Seemed worth exploring. Bamboos is located on a broken down road but that’s probably the only thing that was negative about the place. It has bright outdoor seating as well as a covered area to enjoy the…Continue Reading “Bamboos, Himachal Food, Gurgaon”

bamboo shoots at tasallibaqsh

Recommendations are like any other currency. You send far too many out and they will be davlued. So, I am a little miserly when it comes to putting myself in the line of fire. But this one kind of dragged me out of the house. And, it is not a restaurant. I had written undiluted good things about Hachiba sometime back. The team has moved on and now does something that I know no one else does in the capital – community table on the…Continue Reading “Tasallibaqsh, Gurgaon”

bibimbap le meridien gurgaon

We travel the we way we eat. Some stick to known paths, known sights and some will always prefer the unknown. In both food and travel, we have become a little more experimental. Otherwise, a Korean food fest at a Gurgaon restaurant would have been a loss making idea. And, no one likes to make losses. This is one event I didn’t want to miss. Korean food fest at Latest Recipe at Le Meridien, Gurgaon. I have never had Korean food before, apart from the…Continue Reading “Taste of Korea, Le Meridien, Gurgaon”

malaiyyo banaras

Banaras is one city that has always scared me more than it has attracted me. So many travel blogger friends have written about it, so many friends say it is worth one visit at least etc etc. But the dirt, religiosity and the crowds have somehow upset the pull of amazing food that I have learnt the city has. So, when a friend invited to her curated event on Banaras ka Khana, I was glad that I won’t have to visit the city anymore. By…Continue Reading “Banaras Ka khana, 361, Oberoi, Gurgaon”

smoked pork curry at hachi ba gurgaon

If late at night, your guide car turns into a dark, dusty side lane in Gurgaon, you are probably in a gangster movie. If the car stops in front of a non-descript building with an ill-lit entrance with no one in sight, may be, you are the one that gets a bullet in the back. If you cut the over-imagination out, you may be at an interesting place that attracts people with word of mouth than billboards. Hachi ba is massive inside, must be seating…Continue Reading “Cafe Hachi Ba, Gurgaon”

I love buffets, even the bad ones. ‘Eat all you want, child. No one will stop you’should be the message from gods, resturanteurs. But who minds. If there is a choice between a la carte and buffet, we always go for the latter. And, Asia 7 is another reason why we will continue to do so. So many have told me that malls in Gurgaon are better than the ones in Delhi. But I go to malls only when I have to buy something that…Continue Reading “Asia 7 Restaurant, Ambience Mall. Gurgaon”

Gurgaon is another planet. A very remote and rough planet. It used to be inhabited by a species called jats before its discovery. I don’t venture there. I avoid friends who live there. I block recruiters who call from there. I even refused to pick up my parents from the airport as it is halfway down on the road to Gurgaon. But I happily drove down for food. I read reviews, I did my homework and was supremely excited. Finally, the planet has something good…Continue Reading “Roots – Cafe in The Park, Sector 29, Gurgaon”
