Blue Tokai and Communism in Khan Market

Categories Midnight City

Lately I have been a little cheap. Old age and sickness and all that. But that has nothing to do with my perception of Blue Tokai. My first encounter with the brand was because the high commission had an outlet inside the campus and tanu was addicted to it.

I used to tease her that my office had free and great coffee as well as some 30 types of tea bags and cookies for free. Anyway, as a representative of the urban poor, I objected to her expensive addiction. For daily drink, it was expensive.

And, then they opened an outlet few days back in Khan Market. You see, Khan Market was too posh for a coffee shop. Starbucks was cramped, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf was a dungeon, Perch was never to our liking and Good Earth made you feel like order a wine, not a coffee.

In this underserved market came Blue Tokai. It is not fancy but it is not cramped and we have been there some 3 times already. I have been having a cold brew and tanu has been having her pour overs. Exact same drinks every time. 170 rupees each. 170 rupees for a fine coffee in Khan Market!

You will suspect the owner is a communist.

I have been meaning to have their sandwiches but we end up elsewhere. Massive and great looking ones at prices that Coomi Kapoor should write an article on. Who let the dogs in sorts. But in the meantime, there is Blue Tokai and Communism.
