Covid19 and future of work

work from home and covid19

This is a good discussion. But I have massive issues with the panel. There are no women on the panel and here is why it matters more than ever before.

1. Workspaces have changed for both men and women. Home became the new office. How did that affect men and women differently?

2. Two CMs came out openly asking men to share house work. How many of men saw this crisis as a call to step up?

3. Did you lock yourself in one of the rooms and turn that into office? How is your family being affected by this “new office”?

4. You and your wife have zoom calls and office work and deadlines. Whose work takes precedence? From treating women at work as equal, have you graduated to treating woman at home as equal too?

5. Domestic violence cases have shot through the roof. At office you have POSH and stand to lose a job. Should not that affect your home office too?

6. All future of work discussions that keep women, changing space and dynamics out is useless. It is like preparing for a disaster by keeping ones one hand and one leg tied.

I hope all of us will relook, re-evaluate work, space, home, house work and gender in a whole new light. Otherwise, we are like a lab rats in a training loop. The outcome will never be different or better.
