Now that RSS has come out in complete support of Modi, here is a clarification on the rumours that RSS is replacing Modi with Gadkari. The rumours had got a lot of traction and even some journos whispered about them. I have been saying it will never happen.
Here is why:
1. There is no clash between RSS and Modi. Modi is the sharpened tip of the spear that is RSS. They are the same.
2. RSS never had any issue with despots. From worshipping Hitler to Israel to Indira, Modi has not overgrown the mould. He is the best outcome of the mould.
3. India’s suffering will force a RSS rethink is a false premise. To them a turmoil is welcome so long as it leads to a greater control on the nation. And, Modi has delivered that again and again.
4. Talking of Modi’s delivery on promises, from Ram mandir to Kashmir to CAA, no one in RSS history has brought so many of their wet dreams to fruition.
5. We still don’t know how Covid fuelled anger will unfold. A demonetized India was not angry. A GST hit business class not angry. The walking migrants had no will to retribute. It’s too early for RSS to call off their star performer.
6. The Central Vista, the global branding are all parts of RSS plans to create a new India in its image. The plan has not gone wrong, it is still on. This is the longest and most complete control over India that RSS ever had. To fire the executive who delivered it will be madness.
It is the way of the corporate to cut a unpopular CEO and save the brand. But RSS is not a corporate. It is a cult and Modi its most successful proselytiser. Breaking rank is not an option.
