sattu wala delhi

I don’t remember the first time I had sattu. The version I had is called chhatua in Odia. It is made of poha, chana, wheat and some new versions come premixed with dry fruits. In Delhi, I first saw them around Kashmiri Gate and Chandni Chowk. But that was watered down version of the one pictured here. Noida seems to have far too many litti vendors, so sattu should not be a surprise. This guy’s cart was as clean as a cart can be, while…Continue Reading “Office ke neeche kya hai – Part 5 – Sattu”

lunch in noida

I have been running a series on the blog about food in office areas by the title and there have been a few installments. While the original idea was to let people pool in, people don’t easily pool in. So, it has remained a one man effort. Anyway, the scene has just become more exciting with this cool new place opening round the corner in Noida Sector 3 – the one with graffiti on the walls. Who else will add green chutney to the combo? But does it work? Yes. Where…Continue Reading “Office ke neeche kya hai – Part 3”

DND is the place where all our manners come to die. No one maintains a queue, everyone honks and if carrying guns were allowed, a murder a day would have taken place. I can proudly say that I am rather well behaved, in public places, at least. I never jump the line; give others way and almost always get angry about ending up last. Anyway, a few evenings back I had obediently queued up. Just when my turn to enter the card lane came, a…Continue Reading “A victim of Gandhigiri”

A 120 seater restaurant in Noida Sector 63. If that continues to remain open for more than a year, they must be doing something right. And, they have been around for a year. The first time I got their invitation was almost six months back. But I have been to other restaurants which have the same format – impressive range of grilled starters, a more extensive range of main course and desserts. The started are served on the table, with a live grill at the…Continue Reading “The Ancient Barbeque, Sector 63, Noida”
