Malcha Marg is a location that raises a lot of expectations. The restaurants that have been and that are there have all set the bar a little high. Schengen which is a deli, bistro and pub in one does nothing to minimize those standards. You enter the restaurant and immediately notice the tastefully done interiors. There are two obvious destinations for regional food in the national capital – the state bhawans and the Dilli Haat. I dont understand why both have to be such unapologetic disasters. How can states spend money on TV advertising and ignore food as an effective media? Not all bhavans are horrible. The Andhra Bhawan is quite a favorite among all. Chanakyapuri is one part of the city that I have not really explored. I have been to the bhawans, written about the Tamilnadu House Canteen but one really needs to know where to go in Chanakyapuri. Not everyone loves to go to the Bhawans, there are no food courts, outlets at Yashwant Singh Place are as expensive as sit down restaurants in other areas and the restaurants here can bankrupt you.
